Daniel Edwards - Filmmaker, Writer, Actor
My passion is film and television. After spending 3 years learning how to professionally write, direct and produce films at college I’ve been chasing a career in visual media. My course on film was quite extensive and I’ve been fortunate enough to work on several local productions in various ways to learn new skills and polish what I’ve learned. From sound to visuals, planning and editing, pre-production and post-production, I’ve done a little bit of everything when it comes to film. My personal favourite areas to work in are writing, camera work and editing, but I enjoy working on just about everything film related. Every new experience brings something new to learn or old to refine and the experience alone is worth it for me.
I’m currently working with SHMU to expand and develop my skills further.
Other than film production and editing, I’ve also dabbled in acting quite a bit over my media career. I have a background in drama and theatre stretching back to childhood and have starred in many of my own film productions, in addition to all other areas of production. This wasn’t always by choice of course! Sometimes scheduling conflicts and problems happen in film production and on those occaisions I ended up having to step up myself and take on the lead role in my films, where my ability to quickly learn lines and immerse myself in a role helped immensely. Since then, I’ve been giving acting more thought and attention and am currently working towards a career in voice acting alongside my visual media work. With my good vocal range and strong ability to convey emotion I’ve definitely got some useful skills in this field that I’m looking forward to putting to use!
If there’s one thing I love in media, it’s bringing a character or an idea to life.
